Purpose: Draft projects with supervision and provide concise, accurate and complete descriptions of all reinforcing steel, bar supports, mesh wire and related products for fabrication, delivery, installation and invoicing in the most efficient manner possible.
Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication's vision and values.
Develop a working knowledge of AutoCAD and the basics of Nucor Rebar Fabrication's detailing system (RebarCAD).
Develop basic knowledge of the reinforcing bar industry, including reference material (i.e., Review and verify the dates of the contract documents (plans, addenda, and specs) received, and compare them against the date on the proposal/estimate.
Draft projects with little or no assistance (i.e., simple foundations, walls, footings, piers, slabs, stairs, retaining walls and other products as required).
Submit placing drawings for approval and make sure they conform to ACI 318, CRSI, or RSIC, the Branch quality assurance and the placer/shop requirements.
Communicate with the customer, placer and Architect/Engineer on all questions relating to the project; Work with the Concrete Reinforcing Tech (CRT) Manager to ensure that all specialty items are pre-ordered to maintain construction schedules.
Compare the project's detailed weight progression against the contract weight.
Identify and develop information required to inform customers of any changes (time and/or material) to the contract, including the completion of the change order form.
Review all claims of shortages or errors.
Ensure proper coding of all bar lists.
Follow one or more projects from estimate through detailing and fabrication to installation at the job site.
Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued by an accredited school or college, or currently enrolled.
At least six months of experience with AutoCAD and Windows-based software
Ability to read architectural/engineering blueprints
Ability to work as a team member on projects with an aptitude for problem-solving
Two-year technical diploma from an accredited school or college
Construction and concrete-related construction knowledge and experience are particularly helpful
Basic knowledge of construction or civil technology
Project Management experience
Demonstrated experience in the installation/placement of reinforcing steel
