We seek a highly motivated individual to join our team as a summer student in Core Facility management at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. This job will work directly with the Operations Manager and scientific community at Robarts (alongside research scientists and grad students). This role will support the growth and development of the SSMD core facilities model. Your work will be done on-site at Robarts during regular workday hours (seven-hour workday). You will have exposure to the various core facilities across the faculty with a focused effort on a strategic review of core facilities to assess the needs best and align with the SSMD core facility strategic direction. You will have first-hand experience utilizing management science skills to develop and craft sustainable models for growth, standardization and improvement based on the facility's needs, current operational goals and oversight direction.
Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to grow the core facilities in the healthcare field
Review core facility documents, analyze data and generate reports to support decision making
Help to identify key performance indicators so progress can be monitored toward achieving goals
Support labs and core facillities with basic website development tools (training provided)
~ Participate in project meetings and provide input on project deliverables
Candidates should preferably be current or recent graduates of Master of Management of Applied Science (MMASc) or Master of Data Analytics (MDA)
Undergrad backgrounds in Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related Life Sciences programs are preferred.
1 year of experience providing customer service in a business/research office setting

Familiar with database management, process mapping and various lean/six-sigma tools
Strong competency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & database management
Knowledge of general office procedures including records management systems
Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
Customer service skills to understand customer needs and expectations, with a desire to deliver helpful and reliable service to the University community
