The Maintenance Technician performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The incumbent will repair or replace malfunctioning components parts and other mechanical equipment. The Maintenance Technician performs basic care and maintenance including changing oil checking fluid levels and rotating tires and may test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.

Maintains a working knowledge of and moderate skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems and performs preventative and repair maintenance functions both on-site and on the road.
Identifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic diagnostic tools and performs repair and maintenance on vehicle and equipment engines chassis component suspension drivetrain steering systems heating and cooling systems and line maintenance welding and fabrication.
Replaces fuses for various mechanical including control hydraulic and electrical systems; Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the Companys equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
Plans work procedures using technical charts and manuals.
Ability to perform basic inspections of heavy truck or automotive systems.
Basic understanding of electrical hydraulic and other systems.
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
Knowledge of maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks.

SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nations first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers a joint venture with Ravago to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

As demand for renewable energy continues to grow we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.
