Maintenance Coordinator - Permanent Full Time

This is a critical leadership role for a professional who thrives in high-stakes, heavy-industrial environments and is committed to driving operational excellence through world-class maintenance strategies.

As the Manager of Maintenance, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership for both mechanical and electrical maintenance teams within a complex steelmaking operation. Your mission is to ensure maximum equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Location: In-town (Local).

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Flexibility required for shutdowns and emergency breakdowns).

Strategic Leadership: Oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities, providing direction to supervisors, planners, engineers, and trades personnel.

• Asset Reliability: Drive preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life cycles.
• Coordinate closely with production teams to execute maintenance work with minimal disruption to output.
• Shutdown Management: Lead major outages and shutdowns, managing everything from scope development to resource planning and execution oversight.
• Financial Accountability: Develop and manage maintenance budgets (labor, materials, and contracted services) while ensuring cost-effective execution.
• Performance Monitoring: Utilize CMMS data and KPIs (downtime, reliability, and schedule compliance) to drive informed decision-making and process improvements.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety standards and company policies, leading incident investigations and ensuring sustainable corrective actions.

Education: Engineering Degree, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or a Red Seal Journeyperson designation (Millwright or Electrician).

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in a maintenance department within a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience leading and managing teams within a unionized environment is essential.
• Technical Assets: Experience with overhead cranes and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is a significant asset.
• Soft Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office, exceptional time management, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a criminal record check.
