Caregiver / Companion or Personal Support Worker

Nursing Student / Personal Support Worker - Barrie, Ontario - CAD$243.00/week Description A family is seeking a warm, reliable caregiver to support both of their parents, a senior couple living independently together in a downtown Barrie apartment. This is their first time receiving care, and they are looking for someone who can provide steady, respectful support while helping them remain comfortable and engaged in their daily routines.
Schedule
Visits needed Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
2–3 hours per visit
Consistent timing across all days
Morning, midday, or afternoon availability works
Start date is flexible and still being determined
Care & Support Needs The caregiver will be supporting both parents during each visit. Care needs include:
Cognitive support & companionship
Light conversation for grounding
Quiet companionship
Clear, simple communication
Maintaining routines and structure
Giving space while checking in regularly
Occasional memory prompts or gentle redirection
Meal preparation
Full and light meal prep
Reheating and setting up meals
Meal planning support
Grocery shopping
Labeling and safely storing food
No dietary restrictions
Medication reminders
Reminders for medications taken as needed
Tracking refills
Communicating medication updates with family
Household support
Light cleaning (dusting, wiping surfaces)
Vacuuming or mopping
Laundry
Changing bedding
Organizing and tidying
Mobility & safety
One or both parents use a cane, walker, or wheelchair
Supervision only (no hands-on physical assistance required)
Occasional errands
Driving for appointments or errands from time to time
Ideal Caregiver Qualities
Experience caring for multiple clients at once
Comfortable with elderly care and memory changes
Calm, patient, and attentive
Warm, conversational, and respectful
Reliable and consistent
Takes initiative when appropriate
Strong communication skills, including family updates
English-speaking
Pay & Hours CAD$27.00/hr Hourly rate
CAD$243.00/week Per week
