Job Summary The Fuel for Survival team focuses on finding feasible and low-cost interventions to lessen the burden of infectious disease in pregnancy and in infancy – towards better health for mothers and their babies. Reporting to the Principle Investigator (PI), will be responsible for the logistical aspects of the preclinical program, establish new protocols such as viral and bacterial infection models and participate in manuscript writing, and will oversee or lead the writing of animal ethics protocols, while also serving as the main liaison to the animal facility staff and veterinarians.

Coordinate and oversee animal experiment schedules, ensuring all pre‑ and post‑experiment requirements are completed.
Lead and support the execution of mouse experiments, including welfare monitoring, injections, and dissections.
Conduct animal welfare monitoring, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight coverage as required.
Prepare, submit, and maintain animal ethics protocols and amendments in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage laboratory operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining biosafety permits, and coordinating sample shipments.
Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

PhD degree with a minimum of three years’ of experience in wet lab research (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience working with veterinarians and animal care staff in a professional and compassionate manner
Demonstrated ability to work independently in coordinating complex clinical trials with minimal supervision in a fast-paced research environment.
