Part Time Speech and Language Pathologist

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and in accordance with professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of B.the Speech-Language Pathologist. provides evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders to adult acute care inpatient/outpatient patients. The Speech-Language Pathologist may work directly with clients and/or with their caregivers or other persons who regularly interact with them for the purpose of creating environments that promote optimal communication/swallowing. The Speech-Language Pathologist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the department/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, and education.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Current registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
One year’s clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge of communication and dysphagia standardized tests, measures, use of equipment and related techniques.
Teaching: Ability to teach and provide effective consultation to patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals.
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, caregivers, members of the interprofessional care team, both verbally (one-on-one and in groups) and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice: Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovation, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
