Lead Airline Ramp Attendant

As part of the Alkan Air team, Lead Ramp is expected to effectively work with the Client Relations Base Manager and Operations Manager to ensure ground operation requirements are met and to delegate a variety of these tasks to Ramp Attendants. The Lead Ramp will be responsible for ensuring all freight in Alkan’s control and care is accounted for, recorded, and appropriately handled. The Lead Ramp is expected to familiarize themselves with upcoming scheduled flights and ensure aircraft are configured correctly for next day operations and positioned efficiently for operational use.

Lead and coordinate daily ramp operations.
Freight Management
Receive and document freight, and ensure freight is well marked, weighed, and stored appropriately in the yard.
Ownership of organization of the freight yard.
Update and maintain freight information in company freight tracking system.
Ownership of care towards freight and customer belongings.

Aircraft Preparation & Towing
Ensure all aircraft are fueled and loaded to PIC specifications.
Receive fuel on delivery.
Plan the following days operations regarding freight, aircraft parking, and signage for the next operational days freight.
Work alongside PIC to ensure the required freight and personal baggage are loaded onto aircraft prior to flight departure.
Confirm with PIC that there were not any last-minute freight requests or changes.
Assist pilots in any reconfiguration of the aircraft required for operations.
Marshalling (if required) and towing of aircraft.
Ensure all aircraft are cleaned after each flight.
Wash aircraft as required.

When relevant, discuss handling, drop offs, and pick ups of freight with the customer, while encouraging a positive customer experience
Ensure all ground equipment including Kubota’s, Forklift, Tractors, and Alkan vehicles have scheduled maintenance and that this schedule is adhered to.
Ensuring readiness and replenishment of de-ice equipment is complete during all seasons.
Outsource maintenance and parts when required with Managerial approval.

Tidy and maintain the administration building as needed or requested.
Ensure Alkan Air yard is monitored and maintained, and upkeep as required including but not limited to fencing, extension cords, and fuel drums.
Or outsourcing maintenance as required and approved by Base Manager.
Ensure there is always coverage for snow removal during the Winter operational months.
Lead and coordinate daily ramp operations.
Supervise and mentor ramp attendants.
Ensure Ramp Attendants complete their assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Lead by positive example.
Uphold safety standards for Protective Equipment, Occupational Health and Safety standards, and training for all ground equipment.

Personal Characteristics:

Ability to balance multiple fast-paced, time sensitive tasks while remaining focused on customer interaction and care.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous mechanical, construction (carpentry, welding) experience is preferred, but not required.
