They are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting the company’s global team.
100% Remote Role – open to candidates based in Ontario.
- Assist in the preparation of IFRS-compliant financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Full Cycle Accounting: Oversee and support external bookkeepers for certain subsidiary entities during month- and year-end close.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger by recording, classifying, and reconciling transactions. Support finance team members with accurate coding and documentation of entries.
- Accounts Receivable: Support the AR specialist with complex or multicurrency transactions.
- Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank and other financial accounts. Investigate discrepancies and ensure alignment with the general ledger.
- Month-End and Year-End Close: Prepare journal entries, accruals, revaluations, and intercompany reconciliations. Compile supporting schedules for audit and tax purposes (e.g., accruals, prepaids, capital assets, PO clearing).
- Compliance and Audit Support: Support GST/VAT filings, tax return reviews, and audit preparation.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows and systems.
- Prepare special reports and data analysis as requested by the CFO.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or in progress is an asset.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a similar role. Experience in a small to medium-sized accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of IFRS, full cycle accounting, and tax implications of specific transactions (e.g., Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (Sage 300 and/or Microsoft Business Central preferred). Familiarity with financial reporting tools or data visualization platforms is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and reconciliations. Ability to draw insights from financial data.
