Education Curriculum Developer

Job Responsibility:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Curriculum Services, the Curriculum Portfolio Coordinator helps establish and maintain Open Learning's course portfolio through commonly accepted project management techniques.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Curriculum Services department by planning, coordinating and implementing course development and revision schedules.
• Prepare and manage work assignments and resources for stakeholders in multiple simultaneous projects; initiate and coordinate task scheduling, tracking and reporting throughout phases of course development and maintenance using custom-designed databases and tools.
• Analyze and support the resolution of issues related to course development and maintenance.
• Develop and map course development processes to coordinate the services of various departments through commonly accepted project management tools and techniques.
• Participate in tracking expenditures and budgets related to course development and maintenance.
• Participate in the ongoing development of the department's custom designed database.
• Represent the Curriculum Services department at meetings and coordinate communication between Curriculum Services and other stakeholders.
• Gather and summarize information to prepare reports required by the Curriculum Services Department and other stakeholders.

REPORTS TO Associate Director, Curriculum Services

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION:

Relevant bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (e.g. Administration, Business, etc.), plus
Project Management certification (1 year)

EXPERIENCE:

Three years' experience in an Operations or Administrative support role, including two years' experience in:
Portfolio management, including trouble shooting and problem solving related to processes and procedures, prioritizing, and reporting
Proven experience working with teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders
Working in a unionized environment
Working with educators, preferably in a distance education environment
Using databases, process mapping and project management tools

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Windows, intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, and excellent understanding of management information systems and proficiency with specialized applications such as Visio Demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders effectively, verbally and in writing, with tact, courtesy and discretion, and handle difficult situations appropriately Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work Demonstrated ability to take initiative to acquire information, problem solve, follow direction, meet timelines, and exercise independent judgement when needed Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment Ability to modify procedures to respond to new situations
