As a Financial Assistant, you will be working closely with the various departments across UTM to ensure business transactions are aligned with the general accepted accounting principles, the University's financial and purchasing guidelines as well as funding policies. You will bring a strong understanding of financial management, analysis and auditing, and a high degree of professionalism and customer service to facilitate the achievement of these goals. Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in commerce or related field with a specialization in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience including recording financial transactions (accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries) using a computerized information system.

Experience dealing with a large volume of transactions, customer service, and responding to inquiries in a professional manner

Solid understanding of accounting, purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, internal controls, and HST.

Good understanding of the concepts involved in forecasting and variance analysis, and internal recoveries.

Demonstrated knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, accounting software applications, and finance & business communications.

Substantial working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, including the ability to consolidate and link multiple spreadsheets and to use advanced functions and formulas.
