Job Responsibility:
We are seeking an experienced AS400/Mainframe Developer to join our development team. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our critical AS400/Mainframe systems and applications. This role focuses exclusively on AS400/Mainframe development with knowledge of .NET being a nice-to-have but not required.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Develop and maintain applications on AS400/Mainframe systems
- Write, test, and debug RPG, CL, and COBOL programs
- Design and maintain DB2 databases and files
- Implement batch processing jobs and interactive applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues
- Optimize existing applications for performance and reliability
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Participate in system upgrade and maintenance activities
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 3-6 years of hands-on experience with AS400/Mainframe systems and IBMi operating system
- Strong proficiency in RPG, RPGLE, CL, SQL, and DB2 database technologies
- Experience working with and consuming web APIs within AS400/Mainframe environments
- Familiarity with query tools, reporting systems, and version control systems
- Methodical and analytical approach to complex problem-solving scenarios
- Proven troubleshooting expertise, particularly in identifying and resolving performance issues and system bottlenecks
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and secure technical solutions
- Basic knowledge of .NET development
- Experience with system integration between legacy and modern platforms
- Understanding of web services and APIs
- Strong technical foundation in AS400/Mainframe development
- Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting abilities
- Good communication skills
- History of reliable project delivery
- Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Understanding of business processes in relation to AS400 applications
