Job Title: RQ11615 - Business Analyst
Location: Ontario, Canada (100% Onsite, 5 days/week)
Job Type: Contract (135 Business Days / ~6 Months, potential extension)
Rate: Up to $55-60/hr incorp
About the Role: We are seeking a Junior Business Analyst to join the Government Services Integration Cluster within the Ontario Public Sector (OPS). In this role, you will deliver a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and technical teams to gather, document, and analyze business needs for digital and systems transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Management: Gather, analyze, document, and validate business, data, and system requirements.
- Process Modeling: Develop business architecture artifacts, process flows, swim lane diagrams, and use case surveys using tools like Microsoft Visio and Lucidchart.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, conduct interviews, and lead workshops with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Solution Definition: Define user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and non-functional requirements aligned with agile and traditional project lifecycles.
- Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis and database queries using SQL to inform system solutions and workflow optimizations.
- Project Support: Build traceability matrices, monitor progress, support change management, and report updates to I&IT management.
Mandatory Qualifications (Must-Have)
- Requirements Gathering: Demonstrated experience eliciting, scoping, and documenting complex data, system, and business requirements.
- Process Mapping: Proven expertise creating detailed process flow and swimlane diagrams using MS Visio or similar diagramming tools.
- Use Cases & Stories: Hands-on experience writing clear use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria for IT solutions.
- SQL & Data Analysis: Practical experience querying databases and conducting data analysis using SQL.
- Facilitation: Proven track record leading requirements discovery workshops, JAD sessions, and user interviews.
- Collaboration Tools: Proficient with Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps for project tracking and requirements management.
- Governance Awareness: Foundational knowledge of public sector or enterprise procurement, regulatory compliance, and service delivery frameworks.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Public Sector Experience: Prior experience within the Ontario Public Sector (OPS), broader public sector, or municipal government environments.
- OPS Methodologies: Familiarity with the OPS Unified Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Architecture, and Gating Processes.
- Accessibility Standards: Working knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance standards.
- Business Intelligence: Exposure to Power BI, Advanced Excel, or data visualization platforms.
