ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Supervisor, Electrical, is responsible for delivering high-quality electrical services to internal and external locomotive customers in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner. The Supervisor will maintain a safe work environment for all employees while overseeing the timely, efficient, and cost-effective completion of locomotive and traction motor electrical projects. This role ensures all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, technical specifications, customer requirements, and operational expectations.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise the electrical team to ensure work is completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, in compliance with all requirements, specifications, customer standards, and applicable regulations.
• Ensure all employees and contractors work safely and adhere to company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor and respond to train operational requirements as required (24/7).
• Ensure locomotives arriving on shift are inspected, serviced, and prepared for release.
• Coordinate and oversee evening shift shop activities, ensuring continuity of work from the day shift and adherence to established work lists and priorities.
• Assist with capital overhauls, major running repairs, scheduled repairs, and unscheduled repairs.
• Track maintenance items and monitor repair progress within the Locomotive Shop.
• Ensure equipment maintenance and repair activities are carried out in compliance with AAR, FRA, and Transport Canada regulations.
• Support the day-shift supervisory team in meeting delivery dates, commitment times, and customer expectations.
• Process and manage operational communications, including email correspondence.
• Update and maintain progress reports to track daily locomotive status and shop activities.
• Assist with recruitment activities, including interviews, and support employee training, technical training, and safety training coordination.
• Review and approve employee timecards on a weekly basis.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and operational guidance to internal and external stakeholders to avoid delays and ensure locomotives operate in a safe and efficient manner.
• Support and advise the Cochrane and Englehart teams, as well as internal customers requiring remote support and technical assistance.
• Manage work standards through regular review and inspection to ensure all work performed in the shop meets regulatory, customer, and company standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
• Valid 309A Electrician or 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification
• Minimum 5 years of relevant tradesperson experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
• Locomotive experience, supervisory experience, and experience working in a unionized environment are considered assets
• Experience working with budgets, schedules, and operational performance objectives
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection practices
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and WHMIS requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as working knowledge of AS400, Intelex, and SharePoint
• Ability to supervise employees, coordinate workloads, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to plan and coordinate schedules, projects, and resources to meet operational requirements
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Effective communication, teamwork, coaching, and employee relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with employees, management, customers, and stakeholders
• Commitment to health and safety
