Learning Coordinator

Job Responsibility:

The Learning Coordinator for the Faculty of Student Development (FSD) coordinates the pan-institutional certificate programs within FSD, including Global Competency, Leadership in Environmental Sustainability, Undergraduate Research, and University Honours certificates. These certificates recognize the knowledge and skills acquired by TRU students through their educational experience at TRU and offer students the opportunity of earning a valuable supplementary credential. This position works closely with faculty, staff and students facilitating the processes related to marketing these certificates, enrolling and monitoring students, and confirming conferral of credentials. This position will also provide support for pan-institutional mentorship programming, such as faculty-led student ambassador programs that support students' personal, social, and intellectual growth.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designs, implements and manages credentialing for Global Competency, Leadership in Environmental Sustainability, Undergraduate Research, and University Honours certificates in consultation with relevant on-campus partners; follows up and ensures project completion.

• Coaches, advises and supports students on credentialing opportunities and practices.

• Maintains webpage content, information packages, and forms for all current credentials.

• Facilitates information sessions and responds to student inquiries.

• Develops information and resources for a diverse student audience.

• Confirms the conferral of credentials after completion of program requirements.

• Tracks, analyzes, and reports on metrics for student enrollment, success, and retention for all credentials.

• Provides recommendations to inform policies and processes with respect to student success and retention.

• Supports FSD initiatives and events.

• Aids in the coordination of work for the student ambassadors in FSD.

REPORTS TO Academic and Administrative Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in related field

EXPERIENCE:

• Two years of experience working with students; including:
  • Experience with one-on-one academic coaching
  • Experience working with relational database software

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

• Ability to review, evaluate and report on programming
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Proven ability to work with university, community and campus constituents and to establish cooperative working relationships
• Proficiency in developing marketing strategies for programs
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and present material
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to serving students from equity-deserving groups
• Demonstrated computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Excel, Banner, Moodle and Argos
• Ability to establish priorities, organize, schedule and report out in a timely manner
• Ability to collaborate, problem solve and develop relationships
• Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive, confidential, personal information
• Ability to work within and assist others in navigating through complex systems
