The Department of Laboratory Medicine of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Pediatric & Perinatal Anatomical Pathologist. CHEO is a site of the Eastern Ontario Laboratory Association (EORLA) Reference Laboratory. The successful applicant will be a member of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at CHEO and EORLA. The candidate will be expected to provide pediatric anatomical pathology, perinatal (including placental) pathology, autopsy, and on-call services to CHEO. Pediatric neuropathology knowledge/expertise would be considered an asset. CHEO is a regional reference centre for placental pathology.
In addition to clinical expertise, applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and work collaboratively with individuals within and outside of CHEO and EORLA.
CHEO is seeking a candidate who will foster excellence in all aspects of pediatric and perinatal pathology practice. The applicant will also be expected to contribute to clinical, scholarly, and educational activities, as well as the department’s undergraduate, graduate, and residency training programs. The University of Ottawa and the CHEO Research Institute provide ample opportunities for collaborative and autonomous research.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Uniform Minimal Level of Compensation (UMLC) for laboratory physicians in the province of Ontario. The estimated UMLC for 2026–27 is $418,920.30, inclusive of benefits.

Basic Requirements
Candidates must possess an MD and a Fellowship in Anatomical Pathology or Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent.
A Pediatric Pathology Fellowship Or Equivalent Experience Is Required.
The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
As a pre-condition of contract, all new CHEO/EORLA employees or contractors will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

About CHEO
CHEO is a tertiary care pediatric centre for the Eastern Ontario region. It is the only Level 1 pediatric trauma centre in Eastern Ontario offering NICU- and PICU-level care, and it features a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists. The successful candidate will join a team of three pediatric pathologists and a part-time neuropathologist. The Division enjoys close, dynamic interactions with other divisions within the Department of Laboratory Medicine, including Clinical Biochemistry, Hematopathology, and Microbiology. Furthermore, CHEO has growing Clinical Genomics and Precision Diagnostics clinical and laboratory services.

Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) operates 18 licensed hospital-based clinical labs across Eastern Ontario, including The Ottawa Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. EORLA’s team comprises over 725 medical laboratory professionals, 70 medical and scientific staff members, and 15 pathology residents.
