Claims Director, Property

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Claims Director, Property based in Canada. As Claims Director, Property, you will lead a property claims team responsible for delivering efficient, timely, and high-quality claims services. You will provide strategic direction while coaching and developing claims professionals to achieve demanding service and quality standards. The role combines people leadership, operational oversight, business planning, and continuous process improvement. You will help shape best practices and strategies that strengthen customer service, productivity, and regional performance. Strong communication and sound judgment will be essential when working with claimants, brokers, and service providers. Accountabilities: - Lead, supervise, coach, and motivate claims team members to achieve established service, quality, and performance objectives. - Provide direction and support to claims professionals handling property claims, including complex claims matters. - Develop and execute business and regional plans, ensuring departmental strategies contribute to broader organizational objectives. - Establish and maintain high customer service standards for claimants, insured clients, brokers, and external service providers. - Oversee the effective execution of claims activities and identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and operational procedures. - Support the development and implementation of claims best practices and service strategies. - Monitor team performance and promote a culture focused on accountability, service excellence, quality, and continuous improvement. - Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and support positive claims outcomes. - Bring forward innovative ideas and contribute to initiatives designed to improve claims operations and customer experience. - Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment while supporting the professional development and growth of team members. Requirements: - Postsecondary education in insurance or a related field. - Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP/PAA) designation completed or currently in progress. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, including substantial experience managing complex claims.

- Minimum of 5–7 years of demonstrated people-management experience. - Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and professionally with claimants, brokers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. - Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development capabilities. - Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business strategies and translate objectives into operational results. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. - Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and develop practical, innovative solutions. - Commitment to high standards of service, quality, accountability, and professional conduct.
