About the role:

We are seeking an AI/ML Engineer to join BPM’s Enterprise Technology Solutions team. This role is for a builder — someone who doesn’t just experiment with AI but makes it work inside the firm at scale. You’ll take AI tools and models and embed them into BPM’s day-to-day operations, ensuring they deliver real business value. 

In this role, you’ll design and develop AI-powered applications — from chatbots and copilots to workflow automations — that streamline processes across Tax, Assurance, Advisory, and our Corporate Services Team. You’ll partner with teams to spot opportunities where AI can cut manual effort, increase accuracy, and speed up delivery, then turn those opportunities into working solutions.

You’ll be part of standing up a brand-new AI-focused development team, not only building solutions but also shaping the team’s processes, tools, and standards. Key Responsibilities: 

Model Development : Design and evaluate AI/ML models tailored to BPM use cases (e.g., tax AI bot, Copilot extensions). 

Data Engineering : Prepare and manage structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring quality inputs for training and evaluation. 

AI Integration : Build and deploy AI features into BPM systems and workflows, using tools like Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, and Power Platform. 

Automation : Deliver automation solutions that streamline operations and reduce manual effort for Tax, Assurance, and Advisory practices. 

Collaboration : Work closely with IT, business stakeholders, and data governance teams to identify use cases and ensure solutions align with firm goals. 

Experimentation & Innovation : Rapidly prototype AI solutions, test emerging tools, and recommend best practices for adoption. 

Governance & Quality : Apply responsible AI practices, ensuring models are accurate, explainable, and compliant with BPM’s standards. 

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong background in machine learning, data science, and applied AI. 

• Proficiency with Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and Microsoft ecosystem tools. 

• Experience building chatbots, copilots, or similar AI-driven automation. 

• Solid programming skills with Python.

• Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a plus.

• Experience preparing datasets and building ML pipelines. 

• Familiarity with product development lifecycles and agile delivery practices. 

• Security-conscious mindset with knowledge of data protection best practices, especially when working with sensitive or regulated data. 

• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into AI solutions. 

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across technical and non-technical teams. 

• Ability to explain complex AI concepts simply to stakeholders. 

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with at least 5 years of related work experience 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

• Familiarity with frameworks and libraries such as OpenAI SDK, Azure AI SDK, LangChain, and Pandas. 

• Knowledge of enterprise data governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices. 

• Prior experience in professional services (accounting, consulting, or similar) a plus. 

Knowledge & Experience

• At least 1 year of applied AI experience 

• Proficiency with Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and Microsoft ecosystem tools, with proven success embedding AI solutions into enterprise environments. 

• Strong programming background in Python and SQL, with experience using frameworks and libraries like LangChain, Pandas, and Azure AI SDK. 

• Experience building and deploying chatbots, Copilot extensions, and automation workflows that reduce manual work and improve efficiency. 

• Skilled in data engineering and pipeline development, including preparation of structured and unstructured datasets for AI/ML use cases. 

• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), enterprise data governance, and responsible AI practices. 

• Strong collaboration skills with ability to translate technical concepts into plain language for non-technical stakeholders. 

• Able to work independently or in collaborative, cross-functional teams to deliver AI and data-driven solutions and helping shape a newly implemented Ai focused team at BPM. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and emerging technologies. 

• Able to adjust quickly to the fast-evolving AI/ML landscape

• Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into plain language for non-technical colleagues and leadership. 

• Effective at building trust and collaboration across diverse teams, including technical staff, business stakeholders, and leadership. 

• Naturally curious, persuasive, and motivated to drive adoption of innovative technologies. 

• Strong written and verbal communicator, with experience preparing clear documentation, training materials, and presentations. 

• Adept at researching new AI tools, frameworks, and industry trends, and applying them to practical business use cases.

$150,000 - $190,000 a year

This compensation range provided is intended for candidates in Ontario, Canada, who meet the requirements of the position. Candidates who do not reside in Ontario, do not meet the minimum requirements, or exceed the requirements are encouraged to apply and a recruiter will provide you with a range specific to your location and qualifications.

Hours of work and travel expectations may vary based on role scope and are considered in determining compensation. These factors, along with credential requirements and market benchmarks, are incorporated into compensation ranges to ensure alignment with industry standards and the specialized expertise required. Compensation includes base salary and any non-discretionary bonuses or commissions. If the top of the compensation range exceeds $200,000 annually, specific details will be provided during the recruitment process instead of being posted, in compliance with legislation.
