Operational Finance Analyst

TalentWorld is recruiting an Operational Finance Analyst in Calgary, Alberta for one of our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who thrives at the intersection of finance and operations, using financial data and business insights to support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong financial analysis experience, advanced Excel and Power BI skills, and demonstrated experience consolidating and analyzing large datasets.

Operational Finance Analyst Details

• Salary: $120,000 per year
• Location: Calgary, AB
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
• Work Model: In-office

Operational Finance Analyst Responsibilities

• Act as a financial business partner to operational branches and internal departments.
• Build, analyze, and present key performance indicators and help management understand resulting financial trends and issues.
• Collaborate with the month-end finance team to understand financial results and monthly finance packages.
• Contribute to the planning and coordination of the annual budgeting process.
• Support operations through financial analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare financial analyses and provide recommendations to management.
• Participate in RFP submissions, quotes, cost and pricing analysis, profitability analysis, and client bidding processes.
• Support finance-related initiatives including acquisition integration, labour relations modelling, and national client invoice reconciliations.
• Act as a key stakeholder in the preparation of management presentations.
• Prepare relevant financial documentation for audit reviews.
• Perform other finance-related responsibilities as required.

Operational Finance Analyst Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar financial analysis or operational finance position.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong Power BI skills.
• Demonstrated experience working with large dataset consolidation and integration.
• Excellent financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to use a financial mindset when evaluating day-to-day business decisions.
• Ability to analyze and improve business processes.
• Proactive approach to collecting, validating, and interpreting financial information.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Dynamic, autonomous, and methodical with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Demonstrated initiative in problem-solving and providing financial guidance.
• Fluency in French and English is considered an asset.
