Summary:

Recreation and sport programs provide Londoners the opportunity to participate in a variety of arts, crafts, and physical activities with a focus on access to recreation.

Role:

Reporting to a Supervisor, Recreation Services the Planning and Support Coordinator, Programs and Leadership is responsible of assisting with administrative and logistical coordination of programs offered by the city of London. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment ensuring programs are run efficiently to meet the needs of the participants while providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

Job Responsibilities

• Visit programming sites across the city to check in with program instructors.
• Act as a liaison between front line staff and Supervisor to promote teamwork and clear lines of communication and to ensure health and safety requirements are met and reported in a timely manner.
• Assist Supervisor, Recreation Services in the delivery of recreation programs.
• Assist in the development of program plans for various activities and/or events.
• Model the HighFIVE principles and reflect these best practices within Programs and Leadership guidelines. Complete QUEST evaluations on programs as required.
• Assist with shift scheduling, coaching of staff and certification tracking.
• Facilitate and attend regular staff meetings as required.
• Assist in developing various training programs for front line staff.
• Support program volunteers with programming or logistical issues.
• Organize, purchase, monitor and maintain program supplies and inventory.
• Collect forms and prepare reports on a regular basis for registration, attendance, safety checks, accident reports, operational evaluations and program evaluations, program expenses and trips.
• Create and distribute program promotional materials for various programs
• Help ensure the care, safety and security of employees and participants.
• Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
• Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with participants, parents, the public, and co-workers.
• Prepare and present at meetings and special events.
• Undertake special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum three years' experience in a recreation programming setting.
• Experience with the following populations: Child and Youth and/or Adult and older adults and healthy aging methods and/or Fitness & wellness experience for a variety of populations.
• Experience with inclusion techniques which may include inclusion knowledge and processes.
• HIGH FIVE® - Healthy Child Development Certification and QUEST Certification (prior to the start of the program for Child and Youth & Camps)
• Standard or Intermediate First Aid Certificate (prior to the start of the program)
• Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) (prior to the start of the program)
• Valid drivers' license and access to a vehicle is required.

• Ability to demonstrate strong communication (verbal, written and oral), high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to be flexible and travel throughout the City as required by Supervisor.
• Second language is an asset (please indicate on resume)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including publisher, excel and word and Xplor. Recreation registration software (preferred).

Other Information:

Wage Range: $20 - $25 per hour
