Nanaimo Gastroenterology Position Available
Medical Staff of Island Health
Join the team at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital as a general gastroenterologist and contribute to an evolving Gastroenterology program. Opportunities for teaching and research await in this vibrant community. The Department of Medicine at Island Health seeks a general gastroenterologist for an exciting role at NRGH.
This position requires a team-oriented approach within a ten-member surgery team, serving a diverse area and a population of 160,000. Candidates with five years of clinical experience will thrive in this prospect, as subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease is an asset but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Gastroenterology program
- Deliver direct clinical patient care
- Start a community consultation practice
- Work with the General Surgery Division
- Participate in teaching medical students and residents
Requirements
- Five years of clinical experience preferred
- Subspecialty in inflammatory bowel disease a plus
- Commitment to community health care
- Interest in quality improvement and clinical research
- Initial absence of after-hours obligations
