The City of Guelph is seeking a dedicated Legal Counsel to join its Legal and Court Services Department. With a permanent, full-time role, the successful candidate will contribute five years of experience in corporate and commercial law. You'll offer guidance on complex agreements and lead negotiations while supporting City departments throughout the legal lifecycle of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice on corporate and commercial matters
• Lead negotiations and prepare commercial contracts
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions
• Assist project teams in resolving disputes
• Review and draft agreements related to public procurement
Requirements:
• Completion of a law degree
• Five years of corporate/commercial legal experience
• Licensed to practice law in Ontario
• Proven negotiation and drafting skills
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders
