Technical Coordinator, Anatomical Pathology

Reporting medically/technically to the Medical Discipline Lead(s) and administratively/operationally to the Regional Manager, the Technical Coordinator has authority-wide responsibility for developing and implementing standardized policies, processes, procedures, adhering to quality assurance programs; works collaboratively to set goals and plan for future needs of the designated medical discipline across Island Health; works in a co-management capacity with Lead Technologists to direct the activities of Island Health Laboratory; and supervises Technical Specialists.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training And Experience

Successful completion of recognized competency assessment exam and registration in the relevant field(s) of practice in accordance with the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) pathways, or certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) . Bachelor of Science degree in a health related discipline; knowledge of integrated computerized clinical laboratory information systems, such as CERNER; expert knowledge of clinical laboratory best practice principles, procedures, protocols and equipment for the assigned medical discipline; and five (5) years' recent, related experience in a senior or administrative capacity in a clinical laboratory, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
