About Innovation North

Innovation North is a community of researchers and practice partners who are co-creating a new approach to innovation. We are fuelled by the belief that we can create a future where businesses and society thrive together.

Innovation North was founded in 2019 by Dr. Tima Bansal, a Professor of Strategy at the Ivey Business School and a globally recognized, award-winning researcher. She leads Innovation North's Research Team, made up of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers who study a diverse range of topics, including innovation, management, sustainability, and systems thinking. These researchers are actively applying Innovation North's Compass to solve complex problems by generating novel, actionable ideas through Innovation Projects with industry partners.

You are excited about facilitating the processes that will allow executives and researchers co-develop new R&D processes to align business value with societal values. You are motivated by new ideas and want to be part of a team that will mobilize those ideas to create real change - mobilize to business, business schools, and civil society and contribute to a social movement.

You are an exceptional relationship builder, able to ask the right questions, listen deeply, are persuasive when you need to be and propose creative solutions to complex problems. You are comfortable speaking with anyone, from students to senior executives to smart researchers. You are also entrepreneurial, so you see opportunities where others see threats or risks. Finally, you are strategic and care about impact, so you will know when to pursue something, when to consult others, and when to shift course.

Through the development of impactful partnerships, you will expand Innovation North's reach and awareness nationally and globally. Leveraging your network and ability to connect with others, you will bring our partnerships to the next level.

What You'll Do

• Partnership Development: Secure at least 1 new project at a value of at least $25K and 1 new workshop that applies Innovation North's Compass by December 31, 2023. Support applications and reporting for relevant grants to support such projects.
• Relationship Building: Create, manage, and grow relationships with the private sector, government, NGOs, and academia to increase awareness of Innovation North and its

partnership opportunities. Field enquiries from outsiders interested in opportunities to engage with Innovation North on Projects, the Studio, and workshops.

• Awareness Building: Support website copy updates and social media posts relevant to potential partnerships. Support the creation of long-form content such as ghostwriting Forbes articles and a book. Brainstorm innovative communication forms to grow Innovation North's online presence and amplify our work globally.
• Administration: Manage your own administrative tasks, such as coordinating meetings with Innovation North team members, drafting documents, and tracking conversations/leads.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant area of focus (Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences)

Experience

• Partnership development, sales, business development, or fundraising experience, ideally with C-suite officers or senior executives
• Communications experience with an emphasis on digital marketing
• Prior work experience in a field related to sustainability, business, and/or innovation is preferred

• Self-learner who is interested in sustainability and systems thinking, while constantly exposing themselves to new ideas
• Entrepreneurial orientation, self-starting, opportunity seeking, and good intuition and creativity to generate and screen new ideas
• Appreciation of academic scholarship and business practice; ability to understand the value of intangible and conceptual products to institutional partners
• Strong people skills and high emotional intelligence: the ability to listen, dialogue, learn, and adapt
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for both academic and business audiences
• Personable and courteous in working relationships with researchers, practice partners and key stakeholders
