Our Before and After School Programs, located in various KPR schools, offer rewarding positions working with kindergarten and school-age children (ages 4–12). Plus, we offer our split shift wage enhanced premiums.

A split-shift schedule allows you to work in the morning, enjoy several hours of personal time during the day, and return in the afternoon to complete your workday. Employees who maintain 30+ hours per week is eligible for full-time hours and access to extended health benefits!

What you bring?…. Qualifications include:

• A passion to work with children and provide Moments that Matter and Service that Shines 
• Aligned core values : caring, respect, responsibility, honesty, inclusivity, health  
• Proven ability to follow directions, policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner
• Commitment to confidentiality, understanding of privacy and ethical responsibilities
• Experience and/or enthusiasm planning and implementing age-appropriate programming 
• Basic computer skills, usage of parent communication apps and iPad usage
• Awareness of the cultural and social differences of children and families
• Ability to assist children with washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
• Strong interpersonal, communication, written and oral skills.
• Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR certification level C (formerly "Standard") 
• Immunization record with Ontario mandated vaccines

What to expect from this role?…. Responsibilities include :

As an YMCA educator, role expectations include :  

• Establish and maintain positive daily communication with children, families, YMCA staff and community contacts, collaborating to address individual student's identified needs, stages of development and interests
• Act as a professional role model for children, volunteers, students and fellow staff members. Bring an optimistic attitude and demonstrate positive guidance strategies in a fast paced environment 
• Work together as an integral part of a team that meets the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of all children in the childcare program.
• Participate in YMCA trainings, meetings and childcare events throughout the year 
• Provide positive social experiences including sharing, cooperation and role modeling the YMCA Core Values- Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Inclusiveness and Health
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities to build skills through large and small group activities
