2. performing audits against established technical standards, health, and safety and/or quality assurance criteria.
3. conducting compliance inspections in a regulatory environment (federal or provincial agencies). *Please note: Radiation protection training may be provided by the CNSC to the successful candidate at REG5 level who meets the other required knowledge and inspection experience. For this process, candidates at the REG6 level are expected to possess this knowledge and experience at the time of appointment. What you'll do: You will be responsible for compliance oversight in different environments where nuclear substances and radiation devices are used such as, hospitals, labs, construction sites and industrial facilities. Inspections are conducted across Canada at licensee premises or job sites. You can expect that 50% of your time will be spent preparing for inspections and writing reports, while the other 50% of your time will be carrying out inspections of licensees or conducting other compliance activities involving members of the public. As an inspector, you will be responsible for: - Providing scientific, technical, and regulatory advice and guidance regarding radiation protection, and health and safety in dealing with nuclear substances.
- Conducting inspections of low, medium and high-risk** activities based on CNSC regulatory requirements, which may occasionally lead to performing enforcement actions such as issuing orders or seizing nuclear substances and/or devices.
- Leading and/or participating in multidisciplinary teams in the performance, review and communication of compliance findings related to inspections.
- Leading and/or participating in investigations of incidents/accidents, determining and documenting the facts, gathering evidence, and initiating the appropriate enforcement actions.
- Monitoring and occasionally responding to unexpected incidents under the guidance of the Regional Site Supervisor. **Please note: Compliance inspections of high-risk activities are currently limited to REG6 inspectors and above.

Other: Operational Needs:
- All CNSC staff are subject to the Mobility Directive.
- This position requires frequent travel, including regular multi-day, overnight trips.
- For inspectors based out of the Laval Regional Office, travel is primarily throughout some parts of Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
- For inspectors based out of the Mississauga Regional Office, travel is primarily throughout Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. However, travel to other provinces and territories is also possible.
- Requires a valid driver's license.
