Part-Time Psychiatrist at VAST
Vancouver Association for the Survivors of Torture (VAST)
Join the Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture as a part-time psychiatrist. Provide culturally sensitive mental health support to refugees overcoming trauma and persecution. VAST is seeking a psychiatrist to join its multidisciplinary clinical team. You will conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnose and treat various mental health conditions, such as PTSD and anxiety, while ensuring culturally competent care. Collaboration with other mental health professionals is key to delivering holistic support to the refugee community. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments for refugee patients
- Utilize DSM-5 criteria for accurate diagnoses
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications as needed
- Engage in community outreach to raise mental health awareness
- Medical degree from a recognized institution
- Minimum two years of accredited postgraduate training
- English language proficiency per CPSBC standards
- Eligible for CPSBC registration
- Experience working with interpreters and multilingual skills
