Full-Time Permanent Position, Commencing November 30, 2026

Location: Charlottetown, PE

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior management position with Island Waste Management Corporation, and subsidiary Environmental Industrial Services Inc., responsible for advising and supporting the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO leads the financial administration of the corporation, and provides oversight, direction and advice to maintain financial accountability. The CFO is responsible for an approximately 30 million dollar operating budget and all aspects of the corporation's financial and corporate management, including budgeting and financial planning, forecasting and financial reporting, internal controls, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Financial Leadership & Governance
  • Lead the development and execution of long-range financial strategies, capital plans, and annual operating budgets.
  • Lead the development and execution of pricing strategies, including full cost-of-service financial modeling to support formal rate increase applications to the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC).
  • Provide strategic financial guidance and analysis to the CEO, Board of Directors, and government stakeholders to support high-level decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with Crown corporation governance standards, IFRS Accounting Standards, and relevant provincial legislation.
• Financial Oversight & Internal Controls
  • Maintain oversight of financial reporting, audit processes, corporate risk management, and internal control frameworks. Act as primary contact with external auditors.
  • Provide strategic oversight and governance for the organization's payroll operations, pension administration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee corporate procurement, contract administration, and major vendor financial compliance across island-wide collection and processing contracts.
  • Manage corporate treasury, cash flow, investment strategies, and debt management.
• Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a 3-person finance and payroll team.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, ERP implementation, and operational reporting.
  • Coordinate and respond to FOIPP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) requests.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Applicants must have a Degree in Business Administration or related field, and a Professional Accounting Designation;
• extensive experience in leadership and financial management at a senior level;
• extensive knowledge of financial information systems; experience with Sage 300 and Ceridan payroll system would be assets;
• sound knowledge of accounting and audit principles and experience with Payroll legislation;
• excellent organizational and communication skills, strong interpersonal, leadership, conflict resolution, and collaborative skills and the ability to plan and think strategically;
• excellent written/verbal communication skills including Board reporting and presentations;
• demonstrated problem solving ability with the ability to negotiate with and motivate others;
• a good previous work and attendance record;
• a satisfactory criminal record check.

Other Qualifications:

• additional related education and experience is an asset.

Salary: $109,376 - $135,057 year

Hours: 75 hours bi-weekly

Location: 110 Watts Avenue, Charlottetown
