The Heart of Riverdale Community Centre is looking for a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher to join our community kitchen team.
The Heart is a busy and welcoming arts and community centre serving children, youth and families in Whitehorse. Our kitchen prepares approximately 100 nutritious meals for young people each day. The Dishwasher plays an important role in keeping the kitchen clean, organized and running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Keeping the dishwashing and kitchen areas clean and organized
- Putting clean dishes and equipment away
- Cleaning counters, sinks and other kitchen surfaces
- Sweeping, mopping and taking out garbage and recycling
- Assisting with kitchen cleaning and daily closing duties
- Following food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety procedures
- Providing basic support to the kitchen team as needed
We are looking for someone who:
- Is dependable, punctual and ready to work
- Works efficiently and takes pride in keeping a clean space
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Is comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment
- Can stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 23 kg/50 lb
- Brings a positive and respectful attitude to the workplace
Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The position is 7.5 paid hours per day and 37.5 hours per week. The successful applicant can begin as soon as possible.
