Part Time Server

Server for Day or Night shifts

We are a small Cafe & Bar that specializes in Costa Rican Food and Local Coffee. We are a small operation, so the position takes on many roles, but we promise it is fun! Hours are very flexible and can range anywhere from 30-40 if you'd like.

Coffee knowledge is super helpful, and previous experience is a bonus

Tips are good, free coffee and drink every shift, half off food. Consistent hours and good coverage if you can't work. We often switch from serving and bartending depending on who wants to do what, either job has its challenges.

We've had some of the same staff members for 2-4yrs as a small operation, we think that says a lot about us. We recently welcomed a baby and are looking for someone with experience that wants to work with some great people.

D uties and Responsibilities

• Setting up, cleaning, and organizing work stations
• Preparing ingredients for the shift. Bar prep, cleaning plates and utensils
• Willing to help with dishwashing duties and close
• Taking and tabbing multiple orders on moneris system
• Acting according to health and safety standards (clean hygiene, washing hands, proper plate and glassware cleaning)
• Recommending ideas for specials or seasonal drinks
• Handling multiple customers at once
• Dressing order for presentation, being on time
• Ensuring each guest order has the correct food and sides
• Delivering food and drinks in a timely manner
• Communicating supply reordering needs (cups, sodas, etc)
• Assisting other team members when needed

Requirements and Qualifications

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Physical endurance to stand for an entire shift
• Self-motivated and self-directed
• Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
• Able to quickly memorize complex or multiple orders
• High school degree or equivalent
• Previous experience as a server, bartender or relevant work experience is appreciated
• Strong knowledge of beer, wine and spirits (although we will train you)
• Able to work mornings, nights, and weekends
• Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift up to 25 pounds or more
• Preference given to students, youth, Indigenous Peoples and visible minorities
