Family Literacy Coordinator Maternity Cover

At Foundations Learning we work at the grassroots level with more than 300 community organizations and 300 volunteers to deliver adult, financial, child, and family literacy programming in 104 Saskatchewan communities via community hubs, libraries, family resource centres, schools, and other public spaces throughout Saskatchewan. We have 177 trained facilitators around the province. Combining our work with the trainers efforts, we provided free literacy programs and events to over 5,000 adults and children last year. It is our vision that all Saskatchewan communities and individuals have equitable access to quality learning opportunities so everyone can fully participate and thrive.

Working closely with the Program Manager and Family Literacy team, the Family Literacy Coordinator is responsible for the oversight, coordination and administration of all aspects of Foundations Learning family literacy initiatives. The coordinator manages family literacy events and programs as well as assisting with workshops and trainings. They attend community meetings relevant to job responsibilities. In addition, they provide guidance, support, resources, and tools to other literacy organizations in the province.

Education and Experience: - University degree, education or experience in a related subject
- Provide a current criminal record check

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to facilitate adult and family literacy programs and workshops.
- Prior experience in working with parents, preschool children, toddlers and infants.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and adult learning principles.
- Understanding and appreciation of cultural adaptation.
- Ability to monitor and assess learning progress and provide objective feedback on achievements and learning process.
- Proven skill at developing positive and collaborative working relationships with a variety of individuals to support learning.
