It is headquartered in Brownsville, Wisconsin, USA.The Manager, Equipment and Yard Operations provides leadership to ensure Michels Canada’s equipment fleet and yard operations are safe, efficient, and reliable in support of project delivery across the organization. This role is responsible for the planning and coordination of equipment allocation, maintenance strategy, inventory management, and yard operations, with a strong focus on optimizing cost, utilization, and equipment availability.In this role, you will lead teams and collaborate across the business to establish clear expectations and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. You are responsible for ensuring equipment is effectively positioned, maintained, and available when needed, while balancing day-to-day operational demands with long-term asset performance and financial objectives.Responsibilities:Maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Lead equipment and yard operations, including allocation, warehousing, inventory control, yard management, and transport coordination to support operational needsManage and develop staff through recruitment, training, performance management, workforce planning, and employee relationsOversee equipment lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance planning, utilization, replacement, and disposalEnsure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance programs and coordination of repairs, minimizing downtime and service disruptionsManage yard operations and inventory levels to ensure efficient organization, flow, and equipment availabilityDevelop and manage operating and capital budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance analysisLead procurement and vendor management, including sourcing, contracting, and performance oversight to optimize cost and serviceTrack and report equipment performance, utilization, costs, and KPIs to support decision-making and continuous improvementMaintain equipment rates, lifecycle costing, and financial reporting structures for internal billing and planningCollaborate with Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and field teams, including participation in estimating and project planningOversee systems and process improvements for equipment tracking, maintenance, and reporting to ensure accuracy and efficiencyEnsure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and equipment standards and support audit requirements and corrective actionsSupport long-term planning for fleet, yard capacity, and equipment strategy while identifying cost-saving and efficiency opportunitiesPerform other duties as assigned.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field;
equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of relevant experience will be considered10+ years of progressive leadership experience in equipment management, fleet, yard operations, or related industrial environmentsStrong knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning, procurement, and asset utilizationExperience managing budgets, capital planning, and cost control in a complex operational environmentProven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and work across multiple operational stakeholdersStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills requiredExperience with ERP or equipment management systems considered an assetExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skillsValid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as required by company policyBenefits:We offer competitive total compensation, meaningful and challenging work, and an engaging and collaborative environment.
