Intermediate Fluid Power / Hydraulic Designer (Collingwood)

MacLean Engineering is looking for a talented and energetic Intermediate Fluid Power / Hydraulic Designer to join our engineering team. This role provides an opportunity to work within a professional team of technical people who collectively strive to deliver exceptional design expertise to our customers. About the Position

The successful candidate will be a member of the assigned Product Engineering Team. The role involves gaining experience in the design, manufacturing, and support of mobile machine systems for the underground hard‑rock mining industry. The level of responsibility will depend on the candidate’s abilities. Responsibilities

Carry out proper design and selection of components and integrate them into larger systems, ensuring the required form, fit, and function while following applicable standards and regulations. Detail designs using proper drafting techniques to produce bills of materials, fabrication/assembly details, and inspection/testing details. Support designs by working directly with production team members during builds and making updates via Engineering Change Notices (ECN). Communicate with internal departments such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Support. Support the company’s quality objectives. Demonstrate leadership and mentorship in overall design activities and provide technical oversight to less experienced members. Manage projects assigned by the Product Manager, focusing on schedule, capacity planning, and other project deliverables. Increase productivity and effectiveness of the design team by identifying new and improved work methods. Qualifications

Engineering diploma or degree from a recognized post‑secondary institution. Eligibility for licensing through OACETT or PEO is preferred. Preferred experience in the design and/or manufacturing of heavy, mobile, or construction‑type equipment. Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with preference for certified training. Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint). Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly, and/or hydraulic design, and troubleshooting/testing experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with preference for those who can communicate in more than one language. Willingness to learn, open‑minded, flexible, organized, detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and positive attitude. Location
