Intermediate Engineer - Acoustics

Position An energetic and motivated

Engineer-Acoustics

is sought to join the Acoustics team in Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB.

Intermediate-level position requiring at least

5 years

of experience in analyzing and resolving environmental noise or architectural acoustics problems in a consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct field measurements and inspections at commercial, residential, institutional, and construction sites primarily in Greater Vancouver or Calgary.

Produce high quality, thoughtful analysis using commercially available software and in-house tools.

Take ownership of timeline and budget to deliver successful projects from data acquisition through analysis, consulting, and reporting.

Take a client‑focused approach, supporting clients’ project success.

Communicate complex technical concepts in straightforward language.

Adhere to a defined quality assurance process.

Engage in active and frequent communication with project managers, clients, and team members.

Note: This role is purely technical; does not involve project management but includes client interaction and support for project management teams.

Required Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline.

Current registration or eligibility for registration with EGBC or APEGA as an E.I.T. or P.Eng.

Valid driver’s license.

Minimum 5 years of experience in an acoustical or environmental noise consulting environment or equivalent.

Knowledge of acoustics areas including building code requirements (e.g., STC, NC).

Experience with modelling software such as Odeon, INSUL, Cadna/A.

Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical drawings and specifications.

Availability to work in‑person at the office.

Preferred Attributes

Consulting experience.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with acoustic instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and digital signal processing.

Ability to deliver quality technical work with focus on project budgets and deliverable schedules.

Team The Acoustics team is close-knit; members work independently, collaborate effectively, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Key qualities: strong collaboration, prioritization, independent learning, initiative.
