The Opportunity




Our client is an established food distributor seeking a hands-on Warehouse & Facility Operations Lead to take ownership of daily warehouse execution and facility standards. This is an operational leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, working alongside the team and ensuring receiving, inventory, fulfillment and shipping activities run accurately and efficiently.




The successful candidate will oversee the flow of product from receiving through storage, picking, packing and outbound shipping while maintaining a highly organized, safe and audit-ready environment. The position also supports product samples for the sales team and participates directly in warehouse activities when required.




Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily receiving, storage, picking, packing and shipping while ensuring orders are processed accurately and on time.
• Maintain inventory integrity through cycle counts, reconciliations, product rotation and investigation of discrepancies.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to warehouse personnel, including task assignment, coaching, training and productivity management.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, traceability and regulatory standards while keeping the facility audit-ready and supporting inspections and corrective actions.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for warehouse equipment, material-handling equipment and facility infrastructure.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound activities with suppliers and transportation providers and troubleshoot shipment, receiving and delivery issues.
• Complete occasional local product transfers and deliveries when required.
• Drive continuous improvement in warehouse productivity, accuracy, safety and organization.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of warehouse experience, ideally within food distribution, food manufacturing or another regulated environment.
• Previous Team Lead, Lead Hand, Senior Warehouse Associate or comparable leadership experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment and shipping.
• Experience with food safety, sanitation, traceability and regulatory compliance.
• Experience coordinating facility, warehouse and equipment maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate warehouse employees.
• Comfortable working with warehouse/inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Valid driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract and ability to complete occasional local deliveries.
• Comfortable working physically within the warehouse and handling product as required.

This role is best suited to a hands-on warehouse leader who wants ownership beyond simply supervising a shift. The successful candidate will be accountable for warehouse execution, inventory accuracy, facility standards, safety and operational discipline while remaining visible and active with the team.
