What Youll Be Doing

CIBCs Risk Management team is hiring for Summer Co-Ops! This is a great opportunity to be a part of highly collaborative agile team-based environment solving problems to create meaningful change across the enterprise. Join our team and stretch your innovative thinking skills to help enhance the banking experience for the modern world.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Youll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where youll spend 1-3 days per week on-site while other days will be remote.

Important Information

• You must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full time studies after term to be eligible however you do not need to be in a registered Co-Op program to be considered for this role

• You are a university student pursuing a Masters or MBA degree . Accounting Finance Business Economics Computer Science major is an asset but not required
• You have a strong knowledge of MS Office - Word Excel PowerPoint

How youll succeed

• File Review & Compliance Assessment - Conduct independent file-level reviews to evaluate adherence to established quality and productivity metrics and provide expert recommendations for improvement.
• Policy & Procedure Oversight - Assess compliance with credit policies procedures and delegated lending authorities for Collections/Account Management agents underwriters and lenders identifying gaps and delivering actionable insights.
• Cross-Team Collaboration - Support reviews across other areas such as Private Wealth Capital Markets and Indirect Auto ensuring consistent application of rigorous quality standards throughout Retail Banking and Account Management processes.
• Audit Support & Liaison - Act as a key liaison for internal and external audits including insurers and Internal Audit ensuring timely provision of information and supporting corrective actions for audit findings and ad hoc assignments.
• Continuous Improvement & Best Practices - Champion best practices identify opportunities for process enhancements and participate in team meetings to share expertise and insights.
• Risk Trend Identification - Analyze policy trends and issues that may expose the bank to risk raising insights to support risk management strategies.

Who you are

• You have experience in risk management or quality assurance. You bring 2-4 years of relevant experience in credit risk compliance or QA within financial services.
• You can demonstrate experience in credit adjudication/underwriting. Its an asset if you have knowledge of internal systems such as COINS CLASS M-MORTGAGE LCMS ECIF SAVVY TARGET ICBS and/or CRS.
• Youre detail-oriented and analytical. You excel at conducting thorough reviews identifying gaps and providing clear actionable recommendations.
• It is an asset if you are Bilingual in English and French.
• Youre a collaborator. You build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and thrive in cross-functional team environments. Youre adaptable and organized. You effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities to meet deadlines and deliver results.
