Position Overview

We are seeking a Full-Time Host / FOH Support team member to join our Commercial Drive location.

The Host / FOH Support plays an important role in creating a smooth and welcoming dining experience from the moment guests arrive. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing the flow of the dining room, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and supporting servers and the broader FOH team throughout service.

The ideal candidate is personable, attentive, proactive, and able to communicate clearly while staying composed during busy service periods.

Responsibilities

As a Host / FOH Support, your responsibilities will include:

Guest Experience

• Warmly greet and acknowledge guests as they arrive and leave
• Manage the entrance, waiting area, and flow of guests throughout service
• Assist with seating guests according to reservations, table availability, and service flow
• Provide accurate wait-time estimates and communicate them clearly to guests
• Answer basic questions about the menu, restaurant, reservations, and dining experience
• Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional host stand
• Monitor the dining room and communicate guest needs to the appropriate team member
• Ensure guests receive a warm and professional farewell

FOH Support

• Assist servers with clearing, resetting, and maintaining tables
• Ensure tables are properly set and ready for incoming guests
• Run food and beverages when required
• Assist with bussing and maintaining cleanliness throughout the dining room
• Refill water and assist guests when needed
• Support servers and other FOH team members during peak service
• Keep service stations stocked, clean, and organized
• Assist with opening and closing duties
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all FOH areas

Communication & Teamwork

• Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, coworkers, managers, and kitchen staff
• Use proper restaurant and kitchen jargon
• Communicate guest requests, allergies, table changes, and service concerns accurately and promptly
• Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, managers, and other FOH team members to maintain smooth service
• Ask questions and seek clarification when unsure
• Maintain a respectful, positive, and team-oriented attitude throughout the shift

Product Knowledge & Hospitality

• Develop strong knowledge of The Lunch Lady's food and beverage menu
• Be able to confidently answer basic guest questions about menu items
• Understand common allergens and know when to involve a manager or kitchen team member
• Learn and understand our menu, ingredients, dishes, and service standards
• Make appropriate recommendations to guests when asked
• Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm and knowledge when speaking about our food

Professional Standards

• Arrive on time and fully prepared for every scheduled shift
• Maintain excellent attendance and communicate scheduling concerns as early as possible
• Follow all uniform and dress code requirements
• Maintain a clean, polished, and professional appearance
• Follow all restaurant policies, procedures, and food safety standards
• Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude during busy or stressful periods
• Take initiative and actively look for ways to support the team
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment throughout the shift

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience is an asset
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Friendly, confident, and approachable personality
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant
• Positive attitude and team-first mentality
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Strong attendance and punctuality
• Willingness to learn and develop strong product knowledge
• Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is an asset

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to stand and remain active for extended periods
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
