Accountant (Spanish)

Job Responsibility:

Position Description:

As a member of the SVM's Accounting & Finance team, the Accountant oversees general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Specific responsibilities include recording, reporting, and analyzing the financial and operational results of SVM and its affiliated companies and subsidiaries through accepted accounting practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepares monthly working papers
• Prepares and books journal entries into Accounting system
• Prepares timely payments including cheque runs, wire transfers, and EFTs
• Conducts monthly general ledger accounts reconciliations and variance analysis and books adjustments from reconciliations and analyses
• Assists in preparing and compiling of reporting packages and documents for senior management such as financial statements, budget, and MDAs
• Participates in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end process as part of public company requirements
• Liaises with the Team to improve financial procedures and develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal control
• Supports various internal and external audits as required to ensure compliance, i.e. SOX compliance
• Prepares correspondence with CRA regarding any payroll enquires
• Prepares annual WCB, ESTMA, quarterly GST fillings and other external regulatory and payroll fillings for the Company and its affiliated companies and subsidiaries
• Coordinates administration of the Company and its affiliates and subsidiaries stock options plan with the Company's Legal/Corporate Governance team and maintains records of options grants, exercises, and cancellations using StockVantage software
• Performs other duties as required

Requirements:

• Undergraduate education in Business, Commerce or similar field with Accounting concentration
• Fluency in Spanish
• Minimum three years of experience in Accounting or Accounting analysis, public company experience preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to accuracy, detail, and ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with good writing styles
• Ability to work with different cultures across different time zones
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and familiarity with Accounting software
