Senior Project Lead Development with Java and SQL

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Fraud Technology globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities

• The Senior Project Leader Development will plan and manage the activities of staff/contractors and work with clients to successfully deliver projects and problem fixes into production within agreed upon timelines.
• Guide and assist team members to deliver optimal solutions by helping the team coordinate with interfacing teams that the team has a dependency on.
• Ensure delivery of negotiated product/function while following BNS standards and methodologies. This includes ensuring proper documentation is created by the team, including (but not limited to) design specifications, developing programs, test strategies, peer reviews, change control, release preparation including the required documentation for operational readiness and steady state support.
• Performs release management activities and coordinates the releases with the bank's change review board.
• Does ongoing communication of project status to leadership and escalate issues, when required.
• Provide input to the continuous improvement of processes and adopting latest technologies and methodologies.
• Off hours work is expected in the delivery aspects of the role to support releases
• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
• Min 5+ years' experience in project management or agile methodologies
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives
• Results driven; forward thinking with a problem-solving mentality.
• Comfortable working in highly collaborative and changing environment.
• Must be reliable, pro-active, customer-focused, attentive to details, and a team player.
• Certified in agile methodologies is an asset.
• Application languages (SQL, Java, C++)
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
