Job Overview

The Field Manager’s role is to ensure the success of the equipment installation and commissioning and to facilitate the operation ramp-up at one given site.

Your Responsibilities

Prior to site deployment:

• Manage the transfer of information with the Project Manager (VDDR).
• Assist in meetings between the Office Project Team, and the Site Client Construction Director, prior to shipment of goods to site.
• Identify as early as possible in the project lifecycle:
  • Contract details
  • Battery limits between the client and the project
  • Engineering documents to be finalized
  • Procurement items missing to complete the construction
  • Interferences with site general arrangement
  • Constructability of the project
  • Maintainability of the installation.
• Assist in the visas obtention for oneself
• Evaluate the skills and trades required onsite to perform the installation and commissioning.
• Establish acceptable lodging and traveling conditions for the team
• Go onsite as early as possible to ensure the proper uncrating and inspection of shipped equipment and any missing long-lead items in the project

Site Deployment:

• Support local site resources to ensure quality and on-time startup
• Prepare and maintain the project's site schedule in close coordination with the client and the project manager
• Track logistics and procurement until all goods are received at site
• Identify and supervise external consultants as required with the project manager
• Supervise and organize in coordination with the different contractors, system installation and start-up
• Supervise or support, as required, the work of subcontractors during system installation
• Provide technical feedback to the engineering disciplines about constructability, ergonomics or the operational strategy during and after each installation.

Candidate Profile

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline is an asset
• Good knowledge of industrial process(es)
• Basic knowledge of MS Project
• Organized individual who is also a team player able to deliver projects on time
• Knowledge of English (written and spoken) is an asset
• Knowledge of any widely-used third language is also an asset

Mandatory Requirements

• Willingness to be away from home for long stretches of time
• Valid driver licence is a must
• Valid travel passport is a must

Experience

• Minimum 10 years experience relevant to the position
• Experience in field commissioning and startup in an industrial environment
• Experience in maintenance planning in an industrial environment also considered
• Experience in engineering consultation also considered
• Experience in industrial plant operation, maintenance or development is considered
