Product Manager

PRODUCT MANAGER, LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGY
At Alexa Translations AI, we are revolutionizing the way enterprises handle complex translation needs by combining cutting-edge, proprietary Language Models, to develop industry leading solutions not only in translation outputs, but also in unparalleled customer experience.
We are looking for a Product Manager, Language Technology to join our Product team. This is a technically oriented product management role for someone who understands the language technology ecosystem deeply and can translate that knowledge into products that serve both our internal professional translations team and our external partner ecosystem.
You will report directly to the Head of Product and work closely with product designers, engineering, QA, and our professional translations operations team.

Key Responsibilities:
Professional Translations Product Strategy
Our internal professional translations team is one of your most important clients. You will embed yourself in their workflow to understand their day-to-day challenges, unmet needs, and operational friction, then translate those insights into product solutions.

• Serve as the dedicated product manager for the professional translations team, acting as their advocate within the product organization.
• Conduct regular discovery sessions with translators, project managers, and revisors to identify pain points, workflow bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation.
• Define and prioritize the product backlog for translator-facing tools and features, using frameworks such as jobs-to-be-done and outcome-driven innovation.
• Collaborate with product design to create intuitive UX for complex translation workflows, including post-editing, terminology management, and quality assurance.
• Work closely with engineering to scope, spec, and deliver solutions that improve translator productivity, quality, and satisfaction.
• Define and track success metrics tied to translator efficiency, error reduction, and minimization of post-editing efforts.

API & Partner Ecosystem Management
You will own the product layer of our API infrastructure and be responsible for ensuring that our APIs perform at the highest level, both standalone and within our partner integrations.

• Own the product roadmap and strategy for all Alexa Translations AI APIs.
• Monitor API performance, reliability, and latency; define SLAs and work with engineering to maintain them.
• Manage integrations with partner systems including CAT tools (e.g., memoQ, Phrase, Trados), translation management systems, and content management platforms.
• Serve as the primary product contact for technical partner relationships, triaging integration issues and aligning on feature requirements.
• Define API versioning strategy, deprecation policies, and developer documentation standards in collaboration with engineering.
• Gather and analyze partner and developer feedback to inform API improvements and new integration opportunities.

Language Technology SME
Working closely with our Principal Product Manager, you will be our internal authority on how professional translation is done, how language technology tools work, and how the market is evolving. This expertise will inform product strategy across the entire platform.

• Maintain deep, current knowledge of translation workflows: how translators use CAT tools, translation memories (TM), term bases (TB), and how they will evolve.
• Advise on product and architectural decisions related to machine translation integration, TM leverage, fuzzy matching, pre-translation, and post-editing workflows.
• Understand the competitive landscape across CAT tools, TMS platforms, MT providers, and LSP technology stacks.
• Educate internal stakeholders on language technology concepts, market trends, and the implications for our product strategy.
• Stay current on developments in LLM-based translation, quality estimation, adaptive MT, and emerging standards that impact our product direction.
• Contribute to thought leadership and external positioning of Alexa Translations AI as a language technology innovator.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of product management experience in a B2B SaaS or enterprise software environment.
• Direct professional experience in the language technology industry, in one or more of the following contexts:
  • CAT tool or TMS vendor (e.g., memoQ, Phrase, RWS/Trados, Memsource, Smartcat)
  • Machine translation or language AI platform (e.g., DeepL, Smartling, Lilt, SYSTRAN, Language Weaver)
  • Technical or product role within an LSP with hands-on involvement in translation technology and workflows
• Strong working knowledge of professional translation workflows, including TM leverage, terminology management, fuzzy matching, pre-translation, MTPE, and quality assurance.
• Experience managing APIs as a product, including familiarity with API design, developer experience, integration patterns, and performance monitoring.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, and operations teams in an agile environment.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; able to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements and business narratives

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with neural machine translation architectures, LLM-based translation, quality estimation, or adaptive MT.
• Experience working with regulated industries (legal, financial, government) where translation accuracy and data sovereignty are critical.
• Background in or exposure to localization engineering, computational linguistics, or NLP.
• Experience in a high-growth or scale-up environment where you have had to build processes alongside products.
• Bilingual or multilingual proficiency is a strong asset.
