NVIT anticipates the need for one full-time, ongoing Community Education Liaison at our Merritt campus and invites applications from qualified candidates. The support staff position will start as soon as a suitable candidate is available.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Community Education, the Community Education Liaison is responsible for administrative and program/course delivery vision and assisting with and providing support for all activities of the Community Education department. Duties include preparing proposals and ensuring timely submissions, assisting with coordinating projects/program delivery schedules including detailed course sections, coordinating travel arrangements, assisting with faculty and student needs, and responding to general programming information inquiries. Major role in coordinating the trades trailers and mobile labs for several programs.
Assisting with program delivery effectiveness by providing support in all areas, and problem-solving. The Community Ed Liaison handles multiple responsibilities, solves complex problems and is open to constant challenges and change in a team working environment.
- Bachelors Degree in a relevant field. Combination of education and professional experience may be considered.
- Minimum three years of administrative experience.
- Proven ability to plan, implement, and manage projects.
- Experience in Indigenous program/project development.
- Knowledge of funding sources, trends of Indigenous education and Indigenous community capacity building needs.
- Experience with Indigenous adult learners.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher).
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- A detail-oriented ability to analyze, process and distribute information.
- Strong networking, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work and problem-solve independently.
- Must be organized and flexible.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture.
