Interim Director of Finance, (12 Month Contract)
Location: London, Ontario
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite preferred)
Term: 12-month contract

Compensation: $140,000–$170,000 per annum (Plus Benefits!)
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced finance leader to step into a key accounting and finance leadership role on an interim basis (12 Month Contract). This individual will act as a trusted partner to the VP Finance and provide oversight across accounting operations, financial reporting, and core finance processes.
The successful candidate will lead a small team, maintain a disciplined close and reporting cycle, and support ongoing finance initiatives during a period of transition and change. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity suited to someone who brings strong controllership experience, a collaborative approach, and the ability to provide stability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and support compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
- Supervise, coach, and support accounting staff while helping drive team effectiveness and continuity.
- Partner closely with the VP Finance on operational priorities, reporting needs, and key business initiatives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for accounting, audit, tax, and regulatory matters.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, including systems, processes, reporting and workflow improvements.
- Help guide ongoing enhancements to reporting, controls, and finance operations.
- Contribute to special projects related to process improvement, systems implementation, and organizational change.
Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred; other relevant designations combined with significant leadership experience will also be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership within controllership, accounting operations, or financial management.
- Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, mentor, and support team development.
- Strong background in financial reporting, close management, internal controls, and process improvement.
- Experience in a public company or similarly structured reporting environment is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to finance transformation, ERP implementation, or other large-scale systems/process change is highly desirable.
- Strong technical accounting foundation with knowledge of IFRS or GAAP; exposure to U.S. GAAP is an asset.
- Effective communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across finance and the broader business.
- Comfortable in a visible, hands-on leadership role with regular onsite presence.
