Senior Cloud Database Engineer Position
Marqeta, Inc.
Shape the future of database architecture at Marqeta as a Senior Cloud Database Engineer. Focus on automation and innovative solutions with AWS Aurora and other cloud technologies. In the heart of Marqeta’s operations, you'll manage critical databases supporting high cardholder availability globally. Collaborate seamlessly with application teams and other engineers to enhance database performance. This role plays a crucial part in driving Marqeta’s technical vision for database migration and high availability architectures. Key Responsibilities:
- Automate cloud database operations and maintenance tasks
- Analyze and optimize database performance metrics
- Collaborate on platform architecture and sharding initiatives
- Document designs and communicate technical decisions clearly
- Mentor and guide junior engineering staff
- Minimum of 5 years in backend engineering roles
- Experience with AWS Aurora and engineering best practices
- Familiar with IaaC, automation, and orchestration tools
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and job runners
- Experience in monitoring tools like Datadog
