Senior Engineer, Data Processing Platform

Transform your career at Workday as a Senior Engineer in our Data Processing Platform. This role is centered around Apache Spark and Trino for enhanced cloud analytics. As part of the Data Platform services team, you'll be responsible for extending our distributed processing capabilities in a multi-tenant architecture. You'll work in collaboration with elite engineers to architect features that improve our performance and operational reliability in complex data environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop data processing strategies for interactive querying
- Design for high availability and fault isolation in clusters
- Build systems for performance monitoring and alerting
- Optimize resource allocation for efficient workload management
- 8+ years of Java or Scala development experience
- 3+ years in distributed system design or database internals
- Proficient in SQL and distributed engines like Apache Spark
- Experience working in public cloud environments (AWS/GCP)
- Strong understanding of performance tuning in large-scale systems
