Electrical Designer
Location: Waterloo Region, Ontario
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer who can confidently explain the rationale behind their design decisions and translate complex automation concepts into buildable electrical designs. The role requires a blend of technical drafting expertise and strong communication skills, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers.
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years of Electrical Design experience within automation, machine building, custom equipment, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Strong proficiency with EPLAN (mandatory)
- Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Ability to select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers
- Experience performing hands‑on engineering calculations such as power calculation, short‑circuit current rating, and panel heat loss/cooling
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical decisions and collaborate effectively with engineers, project teams, and customers
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a cooperative engineering environment
Responsibilities
Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project stakeholders, and customers to ensure designs are technically sound, practical to implement, and aligned with project objectives.
