Overview
We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer who can go beyond building reports and deliver end-to-end, production-grade Finance reporting solutions.
This role focuses on backend Power BI expertise—data modelling, DAX, performance optimization, and scalable design—combined with the ability to translate real business problems into practical, working solutions.
This is not a front-end reporting role. Candidates who focus primarily on visuals without strong data modelling experience will not be a fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust Power BI datasets and semantic models to support Finance reporting and planning
- Develop advanced DAX logic for complex financial calculations (variance, allocations, time intelligence, forecasting)
- Build scalable, reusable solutions aligned to single source of truth principles
- Integrate and transform data from ERP systems, Excel, and enterprise datasets
- Translate ambiguous Finance requirements into clear, scalable solution designs
- Identify whether requests are defects, enhancements, or new capabilities
- Provide practical solution direction in business discussions when needed
- Deliver production-ready solutions that perform reliably under real usage conditions
- Optimize model performance, refresh efficiency, and report usabilityTroubleshoot data issues, model design gaps, and performance bottlenecks
- Stay current with Power BI and Microsoft platform capabilities and apply new features to improve delivery
- Participate in business discussions and support validation, UAT, and release readiness where required
Qualifications & Experience
Technical Skills (Required)- Advanced hands‑on Power BI expertise focused on data modelling, DAX, and semantic model design
- Proven ability to build scalable solutions for complex business requirements—not just reports
- Strong troubleshooting skills across data, model design, and performance issues
- Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources (ERP systems, Excel, enterprise platforms)
- Experience delivering end‑to‑end, production‑grade solutions
- Robust focus on data modelling and solution architecture, not just visuals
- Ability to design models that support multiple reporting use cases
- Actively stays current with Power BI advancements
- Applies new features and capabilities to improve solution quality
- Working knowledge of Finance reporting (month‑end, forecast, budgeting)
- Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
- Confident working with business and technical stakeholders
- Strong ownership mindset with focus on delivery and outcomes
- Experience working with Azure Databricks and DBSQL for data exploration, validation, and understanding data transformations
- Ability to trace data from ingestion through transformation to reporting layers
- Strong SQL skills for querying, validating, and preparing data for reporting
- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and pipelines supporting Power BI semantic models
