The starting annual salary for this full-time ( add level - Elementary/Middle/Secondary/District ) School Teacher position ranges from $61, 502 to $1 12 , 806 , with placement on the July 1, 202 5 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach Woodworking and Technology Education within a middle school setting, supporting students in Grades 6–8. The role includes instruction in woodworking, robotics, and emerging technologies, while maintaining a safe, well-organized shop and makerspace environment.

Responsibilities include designing and delivering engaging inquiry-based and project-based learning experiences, assessing student learning through formative and summative practices, and differentiating instruction to support diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues, communicate regularly with families, and contribute positively to the school community. Professional expectations include the ability to manage individualized learning programs, demonstrate strong classroom management and conflict resolution skills, support students and families through challenging situations, engage in ongoing professional development, and exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment is essential.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Technical Studies / Technology Education
• Training and/or experience in a middle school setting
• Knowledge of middle school philosophy and adolescent development
• Experience teaching woodworking and shop safety procedures
• Experience with robotics, coding, and 3D printing
• Experience with shop equipment (laser cutter, heat press, drill press)
• Knowledge of inquiry-based learning, design thinking, and ADST competencies
• Experience managing materials, tools, and technology systems
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience with Skills Canada Framework, developing makerspaces is preferred.
• Eligible for B.C. Certification
• Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
