Job Title : Data Warehouse Technical Lead Location : Toronto/Hybrid
Job Purpose:
The Data Warehouse Technical Lead is responsible for planning, building, improving, and maintaining the Data warehouse architecture. Working with teams of internal and external data engineers and architects, this role will be instrumental in modernizing our current and future reporting data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes and data marts. This role will be responsible for leading and contributing to the architecture and development of data ingestion processes, performance, administration, and design of database structures. Candidate will also be responsible for working with, and evaluating the current team, to improve the overall quality and quantity of team outputs. This role is primarily a hands-on technical one. The candidate will be leading by example and is expected to perform technical tasks on a daily basis, implementing best practices and mentoring others in following in those footsteps.
Essential Job Functions / Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand data landscape i.e. tooling, tech stack, source systems etc. and work closely with technology teams to improve data collection, quality, reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Design, document, and implement data warehouse strategies, including building ETL, ELT, and Data Pipeline processes.
- Monitor and manage team members to increase individual and team performance.
- Responsible for data architecture, data modeling, performance, and cost optimization of the Data Warehouse solution
- Participate in data warehouse development by defining metadata and security standards.
- Define and apply quality standards to ensure optimized data access to the Data Warehouse through tools and individual querying.
- Monitor Database and ETL performance.
- Take the lead in creating a new Datamart based reporting layer on top of the existing data structures.

Knowledge & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data warehouse, data modeling, ETL, BI projects.
- 3+ years hands-on experience in development using ETL tools such as SSIS, Data Form, dbt, Dataflow, etc.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
- 3+ years of experience with CI/CD.
- 3+ years of experience leading technical team of data engineers and database developers.
- Ability to work and communicate with both business and technical experts.
- College or University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science and/or relevant degree.
- 2+ years of Cloud hands on professional experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Familiar with infrastructure as code.
