As the province’s largest energy provider with more than 100 years of knowledge and experience, we proudly deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity and propane to 1.3 million customers.

We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.C. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

You bring a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks within the energy sector and a proven ability to guide projects toward full compliance from planning through execution. With a focus on accuracy, collaboration, and proactive problem‑solving, you work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure FortisBC’s assets and project portfolio meet all legislative, environmental, and safety requirements. With everything you bring to the table, you’ll thrive as our Project Compliance Coordinator.

In this role, you’ll act as a key subject matter resource on compliance requirements for BC Energy Regulator (BCER)‑regulated assets, providing both strategic and hands‑on support throughout the project and asset lifecycle. You’ll review legislation, standards, and internal policies; identify compliance risks; and help project teams navigate regulatory triggers and permitting pathways. You’ll also support governance development, manage training programs, coordinate with multiple departments, and maintain accurate documentation to support safe, efficient, and regulation‑aligned project delivery.

  • Coordinating the activities of external contractors, internal customers, other support providers relating to Major Projects Risk and Governance Initiatives.
  • Collaborates with other FortisBC departments, e.g. Property Services, Community Relations, First Nations Relations, Environmental, etc. to gather  information regarding the completion of  shared phase gate deliverables.
  • Addresses critical gaps affecting performance of project compliance including involvement in working/task groups for implementation of new processes and/or applications. Identifies and reviews instances of project non-compliance.
  • Identify and relay documentation or process improvement opportunities related to FortisBC Major Projects.
  • Provides guidance to Engineers, technologists and project managers in the Major Projects Department with interpretations or other documentation relating to Major Projects governance policies.
  • Prepares and presents information to other FortisBC departments on the Major Projects processes. Reviews and modifies as required FortisBC processes, standards and templates in order to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of the job.

Requirements

  • High school graduation and completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate of technology, or certificate in a business related field, or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years working experience in a Project Compliance role, or similar.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work with drafters for drawing revisions in order to submit applications or notices to the regulators.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret government legislation, regulations and acts.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of natural gas utilization and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure during peak workload periods in order to meet tight deadlines.
